Bộ Công nghệ Thông tin và Truyền thông đã cấp phép cho hai nhà mạng trong nước là Viettel và MobiFone triển khai thử nghiệm thương mại mạng 5G.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Communications has licensed the two local telecom carriers, Viettel and MobiFone to launch the commercial pilot of the fifth-generation (5G) network.

Theo trang tin Vietnamplus, việc thử nghiệm thương mại này nhằm giúp các hãng viễn thông đánh giá công nghệ của họ và thị trường trước khi chính thức cung cấp dịch vụ 5G.

The commercial pilot is aimed at helping telecom carriers assess their technology and the market before officially providing 5G services, according to the Vietnamplus news site.

Viettel được phép triển khai thí điểm tại TP Hà Nội với quy mô thí điểm không quá 140 điểm, còn MobiFone sẽ triển khai thí điểm thương mại 5G tại TP HCM với quy mô không quá 50 điểm trên địa bàn TP.

Viettel was permitted to conduct the pilot in Hanoi City with the pilot-scale not exceeding 140 sites, while MobiFone will launch the 5G commercial pilot in HCMC with no more than 50 sites in the city.

Giấy phép của họ sẽ có hiệu lực đến ngày 30 tháng 6 năm 2021.

Their licenses will be valid until June 30, 2021.

Nếu hai gã khổng lồ trong nước này muốn tăng quy mô thí điểm thì phải xin ý kiến ​​của Bộ Công nghệ Thông tin và Truyền thông. Đồng thời phải tuân thủ các quy định về quản lý chất lượng viễn thông, bảo đảm an ninh mạng, an toàn thông tin và nộp lại cho Bộ khi giấy phép thí điểm không còn giá trị sử dụng hoặc khi có yêu cầu.

If the two local giants want to increase the scale of the pilot, they must ask for approval from the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications. They must also comply with regulations on the management of telecom quality, ensure network and information security, and return the pilot licenses to the ministry when they are no longer valid or whenever required.
